Rusty is rusty…

I got MME 2023 two months ago

they are the door strikers.

yesterday I found them rusty except one.

what should I do?

Looks like a small amount of surface rust. I think just humidity would do that. I wouldn’t worry about it. But if it really bothers you the part should be pretty cheap and easy to replace.

Show it to dealership on next visit. They will likely treat it.

I have a feeling they will say it’s normal. Either way I wouldn’t want to not have a car for a day and drive to the dealer for $20 part and 15 minutes of work. But if you’re already there for something else and they already have the part in stock, it’s worth a try.

Dab a little straight 30 weight oil on it with a Q-tip and forgedaboutit.

Or dab a little oxide conversion solution on it to turn it black.

You could spend hours fighting with the dealer over it, clean it up with penetrant and a soft brush, or do nothing. Those strikers will be working fine when the car goes off to the crusher whether that's in 10 or 30 years.

More likely to have a door alignment issue if you make the dealer swap them, in my opinion.

I showed my dealer the bubbling on the door from that letter. Someone said that’s out there but because I never got my letter they won’t put it in the body shop yet.

Totally different things. And if your vehicle was built before June 10, 2023, whoever you talked with at the dealership is incompetent. No letter is needed, they look it up in their systems.

Totally unacceptable, take it to the dealer and demand it be fixed under warranty and furthermore demand they furnish you with a free loaner of equivalent status to your Mach E!
